The Sunset ice cream shop opened in its current location in 2005 on 39th and Noriega and has continued its tradition as one of the best places to get ice cream in San Francisco. It all started back in 1948 when Earle Swensen decided to open a small ice cream store in Russian Hill. The first \u201call natural\u201d premium ice cream store in the United States, little did he know that the little shop would still be going strong 70 years later with over 300 outlets worldwide and 180 flavors to their name. Originally from the East Coast, Matt moved to San Francisco in 2002 and immediately fell in love with the energy of the city\u2014especially its live music, local events, incredible food, and eclectic neighborhoods. What started as a way to help people discover fun things to do around town quickly turned into a full-blown passion project that now brings thousands of people together for some of the Bay Area\u2019s biggest parties, including pub crawls, concerts, and festivals. With over 20 years of experience creating and promoting events in the Bay Area, Matt has a deep understanding of what makes San Francisco special. His articles often focus on things to do in the city, local music festivals, nightlife, and holiday celebrations. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, checking out new restaurants, and hanging out with his wife and their 1-year-old son, Charlie\u2014who already has an impressive collection of tracksuits.
